01 April 2021 – Losail International Circuit – Qatar

After less than a week, we end up again on the Circuit situated at few kilometers from Doha, for the second leg of the 2021 Championship. The previous weekend was characterized by a very strong wind, that influenced the sessions and the race and by temperatures that in the first sessions of the day reached 40°C.

Romano for the whole weekend was very fast and a series of adverse events did not allow our pilot to collect what he deserved. The qualifying has been influenced by what is became usual in the Moto3 category ! It cannot be taken into consideration that the use of a slipstream could allow the pilots to gain some tenths, that could give them the possibility to start off forward on the grid. For this reason on Saturday for only one second Romano lost the possibility to make a lap, that could allow him to start off a lot forward on the grid. It needs to be said that Romano did not lose heart and, even serving a double long lap penalty due to an anticipate start, he did an excellent come back, ending the race at few seconds from the winner.

Adriàn throughout the whole weekend showed off great progresses. With his team he spent time at some interventions aimed at the setting of the suspensions, that would allow him to have a better confident with his Husqvarna. Session after session he improved his times and throughout the race he was very concrete, arriving very close to the points.

Here are the statements of our two pilots and our Team Owner Max Biaggi.

Romano Fenati: “For this second race here on the circuit of Losail we have a good possibility to do well. It is important to come back to ride on the same track after a week, since in this way we can show off our value. We have only to do some little modifications to the setting of the bike, in order to have the possibility to be adapt ourselves to the various conditions that we will encounter.”

Adriàn Fernàndez: “The second race on the same circuit for sure will be easier. The mentality will be different, because the aim of this weekend is to work as much as possible to be in the leading group of the race and to have the chance to pass directly into the Q2. I am thrilled to tackle this second race on the Losail International Circuit.”

Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “Coming back on track after just a week will be a test for the whole team. It will be crucial to do well and to reduce every possibility of making mistake! From Romano I expect that he realize his speed that he showed off throughout the previous weekend. For Adriàn instead coming back on the same track is a huge opportunity, to continue his way of improvement and of learning.”

Statistics

Throughout the last weekend the pole position was obtained da D.Binder, with the time of 2’04.075. Romano and Adriàn started off from the eighteenth position and the twenty-second position respectively. The race was won J.Masia, that on the finish line preceded P.Acosta and D.Binder. Romano reached the eleventh position and Adriàn the seventeenth.

Among all the record of this circuit, only the All Time Lap Record has been beaten. Indeed D. Binder sealed the time of 2’04.075, with an average speed of 146.0 km/h.
We remind all the other unbeaten records. In 2019 our Romano obtain the Best Race Lap, with an average speed of 154.4 km/h and the time of 2’05.403. T.Suzuki in 2020, with time of 2’04.815 and the an average speed of 155.1 km/h, sealed the Best Pole. 246.0 km/h is the Top Speed obtained in 2020 by S.Garcia.
