24 November 2021 – Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto – Spain
For these first tests of the 2022 on the Andalusian track, there were not many Moto3 pilots on track. In these two days our two bearers did almost 800 km overall and both Ayumu and John, who have been already team mates in 2019, have been constant and competitive.
The first day of test started a little bit late, since they preferred to wait that the track would dry off completely, after the rain fell throughout the night, whereas in the second day the track was in good conditions yet from the beginning.
The work of the two teams was sketched up in different ways. Indeed Ayumu in the first day of test tried the Husqvarna with the 2022 configuration, whereas the second day he rode the FR 250 GP, left free by R. Fenati. Our Japanese pilot, because of the huge experience gained on the bike of Mattighofen, with his team he explored the particular adjustment of electronics and of setup, to define the path to follow for the 2022. Different work for John, who drove in the previous three years a completely different bike, rode only the FR 250 GP with the 2021 configuration. Few changes to the setting for him, with the aim to adapt at the best the bike to his driving style.
Both the teams were really satisfied with the work done by the two pilots, also due to the competitiveness showed off by both Ayumu and John. The next test for the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team will be in the middle of February still on the Jerez track, when both of the pilots will have the chance to try the new 2022 Husqvarna.
To follow the comments of Ayumu, John, and Max Biaggi our Team Owner.
Ayumu Sasaki: “First of all I am happy to start already the 2022 season and to have the chance to know each other. In the first day of test the track condition was not amazing, but in the second day have improved and we managed to understand the bike a lot, trying everything that we needed to. For this reason I am very satisfied with the second day of test. I solved many problems that I had this year during the races . Together with the team I worked very well, not only on the bike but also on myself. Thanks to these tests I know what I have to improve and consequently what I have to focus on during the winter break. Now I can finish my 2021 season with a smile on my face and looking forward to starting the upcoming one. Overall it was a very positive test and I am truly happy.”
John McPhee: “I had a really enjoyable two days here in Jerez. It is been fantastic to get to know all of my crew and also my new bike. The first impression could not be better! It is really nice to work with all these guys. The Husqvarna bike is working really well and it didn’t seem like it took me long to adapt. I have some ideas to think over the winter to keep improving. Overall they have been two successful days, for which we can go into the winter break happy.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “With these two days of tests we end this long year that allowed us to live a lot of emotions. In Jerez our two pilots took confidence both with the team and with the bike and I have to say that I am satisfied with the work done by Ayumu and John. With this line up we have two strong pilots with a lot of experience, therefore will be necessary to work hard, to have the chance to reach the leading positions with both of them.”
