The rain turns the Bugatti really slippery. Romano and Alonso fall too

SHARK Helmets Grand Prix de France 2020 – FP1

09 October 2020Le Mans – France

The first session of free practice on the track of Le Mans took place in very difficult conditions, not because of the temperature in the air, which reached approximately 15°C, but because of the rain that made the track treacherous. This has entailed a lot of falls among them there are the ones of our two pilots.

As a matter of fact Romano fell during the first timed lap in corner 4, without having any consequence. After he picked up the bike he promptly returned to the pit, where his Team has worked to reactivate the FR 250GP. Thanks to this he was able to complete 14 laps, sealing his best time at the tenth lap. With the time of 1’56.902 in the ranking of the FP1 our pilot results to be in eleventh position, with a gap from the leader J. McPhee of 1.685 s.

For what concerns Alonso, he started off the session with a very fast pace and yet from the first laps he was in the top five. At the beginning of the sixth lap a fall in corner 2, which represents the part of the track in which there have been the majority of the crash, has prevented him to finish the round, because his bike has reported rather important damages. During the last of the five laps done our pilot succeeded to seal a good 1’57.162. With this time Alonso is in twelfth position, with a gap of 1.945 s.

Next appointment is at 1.15 pm for the free practice 2.
