Ayumu fourth after a race always on the attack

Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas 2022 – Race

10 April 2022Circuit Of The Americas – United States

The weekend on the COTA ends with the Moto3 race that offers incredible emotions. Our Ayumu crosses the finish line in fourth place, while our rookie David is ranked twenty-second.

The race of our Japanese driver was a succession of emotions. Ayumu, started from the ninth box, already during the second lap he moved into sixth position. From there on with a big step he approached the leading group. It is his second fastest lap of the race, obtained on the fifth lap, thanks to which he joined the group of the first three. The rest of the race was a continuous succession of overtaking and Ayumu showed a great solidity, with deep braking and overtaking in all conditions. Ayumu made an astonishing overtaking of two drivers on lap 16, in the eighth corner. With this fourth place, Ayumu rises in the world ranking to the eighth place.

As for David, he started very well from the 24th position and in the first laps he managed to recover many positions. The natural degradation of the tyres then prevented David from continuing his progression. It should be noted that David did not make any mistakes this weekend and, thanks to a perfect job with the team, he managed to figure well on a very complex track like the COTA.

Here are the words of the protagonists of this weekend.

AYUMU SASAKI : “I am happy to finish the race in P4. We were again very competitive. I am happy because this week we started off the weekend with a little bit more difficulties, compared to the first three rounds, but we kept walking and we kept believing. The team did a fantastic job! Lele our crew chief did an amazing job and today my bike was in the best possible condition. I had one issue that we then fixed, but the bike is never perfect and today, with this windy conditions, I think my bike was very competitive. I am very happy, just a little disappointed that I missed the podium. Of course as a rider the podium is what you are looking for always, so I am a little bit disappointed, but from a difficult weekend we managed to finish in P4, which is a very very good thing. Now we are going to Portimao, where we were very fast in the test, so we will try again and come back even stronger in the next race.”

DAVID SALVADOR : “Today I had a good race. In the first laps I made many overtaking and I had a good feeling with my Husqvarna. In the second part of the race, I was not able to keep a good pace. I think with more miles on the bike, I could have improved all that. With the team we did a great job, always proceeding step by step. All this will come in handy for my championship. I want to thank Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max Racing for giving me the opportunity to participate in this race and also thanks to my Sponsors and my Family.”

MAX BIAGGI – TEAM OWNER : “It was a good result for the whole team because, considering how we started on Friday, we ended up with some very good points. Ayumu had the chance to fight for the victory until the last laps. The team did a good job. Ayumu can be satisfied fo this weekend and now we go to Portimao to get an even better performance. For Salvador everything is quite new, the team, the bikes, but I must say that he made no mistakes and this is already a good test of maturity. Obviously in Moto3 the level is higher than of the Spanish championship. Surely for him this experience will be of great help for his championship.”
