19 February 2022 – Autódromo Internacional do Algarve – Portugal
With the three-day test, which will take place today at the Portimao circuit, the 2022 season officially begins.
Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max Racing has already carried out two days of private testing at the Jerez circuit on the 8th and 9th of February. On that occasion our two new drivers, Ayumu Sasaki and John McPhee, were able to make the first laps on the Husqvarna FR 250 GP in the 2022 configuration.
In addition to some mechanical changes, the bike has received a makeover at the livery level, while confirming the partners that have long accompanied the Max Racing Team in this world adventure, first of all the main sponsor Sterilgarda Alimenti.
The Team owned by the 6 times World Champion Max Biaggi for the third consecutive year is Team Factory of Husqvarna Motorcycles and is preparing to live this World Championship with a renewed enthusiasm and with the awareness of being able to achieve great results.
We leave you to the words of Ayumu, John and our Team Owner Max Biaggi.
AYUMU SASAKI : “I am very happy to start the 2022 season in Portimao and I am very excited. I had two great days of private testing in Jerez and I felt great with the team. Getting back on the bike I felt good on it, so yeah, I am just so excited to start the season and I feel great. In Portimao, I will do what I have to do and I will focus on myself. I just can’t wait to ride again and being ready for Qatar.”
JOHN MCPHEE : “I’m really looking forward to getting back on my Husqvarna in Portimao. The circuit there is very unique and it has a bit of everything so will be a great place to test at. This will be our last days on the bike before heading to Qatar so our target will be to leave this test as happy as possible with our overall setup.”
MAX BIAGGI – TEAM OWNER : “The Portimao tests mark the official start of the 2022 Championship. We are once again the Husqvarna Motorcycles Team Factory and this requires us to strive for great results from the very first races. This year we have a team with two very strong drivers and I expect that they can express themselves at high levels since these tests.”
