Tenth position on the grid for Ayumu

Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2022 – Qualifying

18 March 2022Pertamina Mandalika Circuit – Indonesia

During the qualifying for the Indonesian Grand Prix, Ayumu takes the tenth place, with a time of 1’42.268.

For him a gap from poleman C.Tatay of 1.036 s. The Saturday on the Mandalika Circuit began with a violent downpour, which wet the track and made the free practice 3 take place in wet conditions. For this reason, no one was able to improve their time and Ayumu, thanks to the fourth time who scored in free practice 2, had direct access to qualifying 2. The weather in qualifying improved and the track dried up largely, reaching a ground temperature of 39 ºC. It should be mentioned that in some places there were some wet patches, which created some problems to Ayumu in his last time attack. Six laps completed by our driver, who got his best lap on the second one.

The word goes to Ayumu and Max Biaggi, our Team Owner.

AYUMU SASAKI : “I am very happy about today’s feeling, but unfortunately we finished P10. I think we had potential to do a better position, but I made a mistake and I couldn’t do a clean and fast lap. I am a little bit disappointed, but we have great speeds, so I am excited for tomorrow. We will start in P10, so the first few laps will be very important. I will try to gain positions in the first few laps and to finish the race in a good way.”

MAX BIAGGI – TEAM OWNER : “Today Ayumu had the potential to start ahead. A real shame, because the track was in particular conditions and the wet patches created many problems. Tomorrow in the race we must finalize the good work done and bring home the first points of this Championship.”
