Romano recovered thirteen positions. Penalty for Alonso

myWorld Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich 2020 – Race

16 August 2020Red Bull Ring – Spielberg – Austria.

A come back race for our pilots, with Romano who ended the race in seventeenth position and Alonso in twenty-third place.
Perfect condition for the race, with a slightly unclear sky, with a temperature in the air of 23° and on the ground of 39°. As it was preventable, a lot of pilots have been penalized for passing the limits of the track and, before ratifying the final ranking, several minutes have passed from the end of the race. Alonso at few laps from the end has received a Long Lap Penalty and since that he did not serve it before the end of the race, at his total time 3 penalty seconds have been added.

Romano started off well from the thirtieth place on the starting grid and at the end of the first lap he was in twenty-seventh position. He had a good pace, realizing throughout the penultimate lap his best lap in 1’36.882, that represents the seventh best lap in the race. The came back culminated with the thirteen positions gained, at only 2.920 s from the winner and the awareness of starting from a good setting for the next race, that will be ridden next week still on the Red Bull Ring.

As we were saying, due to the 3 seconds penalty, Alonso has ended the race with a time gap of 10.963 s from the winner A. Arenas. He sealed his best lap in 1’37.117 throughout the fourth lap.

Here are the words of the protagonists of this weekend.

Romano Fenati: “I am not really happy for the position reached in the race, but I like the improvement that we succeeded to have with the bike. We had a pace that is comparable with the one of the leaders and this demonstrates that we are on the right path. We need to improve the qualifying performance, in order to start off more ahead on the grid and thus we can manage better the race. We are working to start in the best possible way the next weekend.”

Alonso Lopez: “I am not really happy with the overall performance, but I am happy because I feel that I am understanding better the bike and I think that this is really important. For what concerns the next race I think that I can make a huge step forward, going faster since Friday and this is crucial to be more prepared for the Sunday race. All of this will make me feel more comfortable in the group. I think that we have to change something on the front part of the bike, which will for sure help me a lot. I would like to thank the Team, the mechanics, and all the sponsors that support me.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “It has been a not really positive race, unfortunately influenced by the results obtained in the qualifying. For Romano the recorded times are rather fast, instead, Alonso needs to find the right path in order to be competitive. It is a result that does not show the potentialities of both our pilots. In a week, on the same track, there will be another race and it will be a good opportunity to improve the performances in the free practice sessions, in order to do a race in the top positions.”
