27 June 2021 – TT Circuit Assen – Netherlands
Great Romano! Today our pilot has been stronger than all the difficulties. He was penalized with a double Long Lap Penalty, together with his teammate, after the free practice, Romano did not lose heart and yet from this morning he showed off the bases to do an excellent race.
The masterpiece has been done at the beginning by both Romano and his Team, leaded by Lele Martinelli, with the choice of the soft tire at the back wheel. It is true that they have been obliged to take this choice because of the double penalty, that Romano would have served in race, but it is also true that to have a tire that performs well until the end an excellent setting and a careful drive were necessary. Here there are the recipe for a great result! Third with a double Long Lap Penalty and a race pace that was below the previous track record! Throughout the race it was obvious all the talent that Romano has, since he managed to retake the leading group of the race very quickly after each penalty. He fought as his best, defending his position and attacking every time he could. In the ranking of the Championship Romano retook the fourth position with 80 points !
We can not ask for more and with such a Romano everything could be possible !
On the other side of the pit, our Adriàn was doing a good race. Indeed even if he started from the twenty-first position, after he served the double Long Lap Penalty, he came back until the sixteenth position. A furious come back that unfortunately ended with a crash, throughout the fourteenth lap in turn 14. Adriàn lost the control of his Husqvarna in a rather fast segment of the track, but luckily he did not report any physical damage.
We report the comments of our pilots and our Team Owner, who received for his birthday a beautiful podium as a gift.
Romano Fenati: “I am enjoying the moment ! I felt strong with the bike yesterday and Friday, so after the second Long Lap Penalty I pushed at the limit and I overtook rider by rider. The bike was perfect at the end, though the drop of the tire was a little bit too much. This podium is like a victory for me, since I achieved this result serving two Long Lap Penalty. I go on vacation with a smile on the face. Sergio Garcia was very fast, even if I think that the Best Rider today was Dennis , who stayed in first position for the majority of the race laps. For the next races I hope to stay on the podium, so that he can fight for the Championship. It was not easy to start in Qatar with the penalty and when we come back in Europe in Portimao was not as we expected to be, but in any case we started the season stronger than last year.”
Adriàn Fernàndez: “Today was very difficult especially in the warm up. The race was different from the previous races, because the two Long Lap Penalty made it even more difficult. The last two laps that I made were very good, even if I crashed. The next race will be better for sure.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “I saw a great performance achieved by Romano, who start leading the group yet from the first corner of the first lap. He served two Long Lap Penalty and even after this huge disadvantage he was able to go back to the leading group and fight like a lion. I saw him very motivated. It has been an impressive race for Romano, who was able to fight for the victory and at the end he managed to reach a third place. Too bad Adriàn crashed again. Anyway that of today it was good performance of the team.”
