A huge chaos

Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland 2021 – Race

20 June 2021Sachsenring – Germany

At the beginning of this weekend the FIM MotoGP Stewards convocated all the pilots of the Moto3 and the respective team managers, with the aim to avoid the happening of dangerous crashes, that in this last period implemented a lot. Throughout the race of today unfortunately we saw a lot of situations that are at the limit and who paid the expenses of this was our Team leader Romano also.

The race started at 11 AM, with a temperature of 28°C in the air and 33°C on the ground.

Romano started from the eighth position on the grid and he was in eleventh position at the end of the first lap. The leading group remained rather compact, until the beginning of the third lap when, due to a contact in turn 1, Romano collected a small gap. Stubbornly our pilot managed to diminish the gap reaching the end of the group, which was composed by 18 pilots! Unfortunately at the thirteenth lap, due to another contact in corner 1 with D. Oncu, Romano distanced from the group that preceded him. The crash occurred has been investigated by the FIM MotoGP Stewards. At the beginning of the fifteenth lap, always in corner 1, R. Yamanaka went long and he lost the control of his bike falling. Romano, in order to avoid to be hit, went wide on the gravel. On the finish line of the sixteenth lap he was still in thirteenth place, but he was rather far behind the group that preceded him. At seven laps from the end, the FIM MotoGP Stewards announced their decision regarding the contact between Romano and R. Yamanaka. Our pilot was considered guilty of irresponsible riding and thus he had to serve a long lap penalty. At the end of the twenty-seven laps of race Romano cut the finish line in thirteenth position, ending a very hard and difficult race, in which he realized the seventh faster lap in race.

For what concerns Adriàn, unfortunately also the race highlighted the difficulties encountered in the weekend of race on the Sachsenring. Our rookie started in twenty-third position, ending the second lap in twenty-first position. Unfortunately, at the third lap a crash positioned him at the end of the group. Adriàn picked up his bike and restarted, but he collected a huge gap. Due to this at the seventh lap came back to the pit.

We leave here the comments of the protagonists, regarding this race full of plot twists.

Romano Fenati: “The outcome of the race does not represent what we expected for sure, indeed we had some issues at the start with the clutch. furthermore staying in the group was quite difficult, because we had too long a gear box. Anyway I’ve been lucky, because twice I almost crashed. The last one was pretty scary, because a pilot crash, while I was in the final phase of the braking ! The his bike touched me and I went outside in the gravel.”

Adriàn Fernàndez: “The race was difficult, indeed at the start of the race I got into a contact with another rider. The feeling with my bike was good and step by step I managed to pass other pilots. Unfortunately I made a mistake, in fact I brake too late and I went wide. In any case the work that I am doing with my team is very good and next Grand Prix will be better for sure.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “The Sachsenring Grand Prix did not go as we planned. Watching the free practice of Friday and Saturday I was much more optimistic regarding the performance of Romano, but unfortunately throughout the race he did not have the strength to pass and to stay in the leading group. Throughout the race he was involved in few crashes with other riders and at the end he lost positions. It was not an excellent result even if he managed to score points. Adriàn improved from Friday to Sunday, but unfortunately he crashed. Even if he made a mistake he is trying to improve his performance.”
