The 55 minutes of free practice 1 ended, and Romano, for the first time on the rollercoasters of the Algarve International Circuit, has expressed himself with an outstanding naturalness. He sealed his best time in 1’49.054, without using any slipstream. Moreover at half of the round, he was the leader of the ranking, with a substantial gap from the pursuers. At the end of the session he did 21 laps in 3 runs, resulting in second position, with a gap from the leader J.Masia of 0.158 s.
Romano has resulted in being the fastest pilot in the fourth split time of the track. It needs to be said that he incurred in a harmless slip at the last turn, at 13 minutes from the end of the round. After a check at the pit, Romano managed to return on track and seal his best time at his last lap.
Alonso also from the beginning showed off to be very fast and for a few minutes he was also behind Romano in the session standings. He ends the session in eighteenth place, with a gap of 1.418 s. 1’50.314 represents his best lap, obtained at the twentieth of the twenty-three laps done.
The next appointment is at 1.50 pm (GMT+1) when the FP2, will take place that will be exceptionally 55 minutes long.
