In a race full of plot twists, Romano cuts the finish line in seventh position. P11 for Adrian

Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve 2021 – Race

07 November 2021Algarve International Circuit – Portugal

It was full of plot twists the race that crowned P. Acosta as the 2021 World Champion of the Moto3, to him go all our compliments, that we enlarge to the Team Ajo and to the KTM. There have been several changes of leader and the last one took place after the finish flag, when one pilot was excluded in the ranking and our bearers gained one position. Romano and Adrian ended the weekend with the seventh and the eleventh position.

An excellent team result, considering also that Romano regained the fourth position in the championship and Adrian for the first three laps was in the leading group, cutting the finish line of the first lap in first position!

Romano did not manage to have a good start from the thirteenth position and this prevented him to start from the beginning his comeback. We have to say that at the end of the first lap he was in nineteenth position. In the following laps he increased his rhythm and at the fifth lap he sealed the second faster time in race. From that point onward he gained positions in the ranking, making many undertakes and ending at 1.972 s from the winner P. Acosta.

For what concerns our rookie, Adrian started very well from the third position on the grid and he remained in the leading group for one third of the race. The fall at high speed in which he incurred this morning in the warm up did not take the confidence away from him! Indeed our pilot fought with confidence with the stronger pilots of the category and in race he obtained the eleventh faster lap. He ends the race with a gap from the winner of 6.940 s.

To follow the statements of the protagonists on the Algarve Grand Prix.

Romano Fenati: “With the points gained today I managed to get closer to the third position of the World Championship ranking and I am happy with this. I am satisfied with the speed showed off in race, but unfortunately the seventh position at the finish line was not my objective. I was aiming at the podium and for this I am not happy.”

Adriàn Fernàndez: “This morning in the warm up I incurred in a very bad crash and luckily I did not recur any major damage. I’m happy because I finished the first lap in first position and I fought in the leading group, but in the last laps I had some problem with the grip of the rear wheel . I would like to thank my team and my family for the support that they give me.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “The race did not go as we expected, since Adrian could have remained in the leading group and to be honest I am quite disappointed, because my hopes for a better position were high. Both our riders reached the points and this is good but of course it could have been better. Romano took a lot of time to come back, even if he made some good laps! This is not Romano that we are used to see, indeed from him we expect always something more. He obtained the seventh position at the finish, ma molti sono caduti ed un pilota è stato squalificato; therefore seventh is a good result but a very lucky one. One more round to go and hopefully he could fight for the for the third position in the world rankings, because is really important. For this reason I hope that both Romano and Adriàn, who will make his last race with us, can have a good race in Valencia.”
