First row! Amazing third position for Adrian. Romano opens the fifth row

Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve 2021 – Qualifying

06 November 2021Algarve International Circuit – Portugal

The result obtained today by Adrian has a huge value! Indeed, our rookie is for the first time in first row in the Moto3 World Championship, after a weekend in which he increased his performances. It is also the first time that Adrian manages to express with such confidence on dry track. The other times in which he performed well, they happened almost every time on damp or wet track.

This underlines the excellent work done by him and his team. Adrian in the combined ranking of the free practice obtained the thirteenth position and this allowed him to reach automatically the qualifying 2. Nevertheless he put in place a perfect strategy, since in his decisive time attack in the qualifying, he managed to take advantage of the slipstream of other pilots; the slipstream, due to the long straight line of the Algarve Circuit, is crucial to obtain a good time. Adrian in the last of the six laps completed obtained a best lap of 1’47.404, at 0.130 s from the poleman S. Garcia.

More difficulties for Romano, caused especially by the fact that our team leader went alone in the qualifying. Him also gained direct access to the qualifying 2, thanks to the excellent time obtained in the FP2. Throughout the Q2 Romano did two time attacks and in the last one he obtained the time of 1’47.900, with which tomorrow he will open the fifth row, with gap of 0.626 s.

We leave the floor to the comments of Adrian, Romano and our Team Owner Max Biaggi.

Adriàn Fernàndez: “Today was an incredible day! Indeed thanks to the good free practice I reach directly the Q2. With an excellent time obtained in the qualifying I managed to reach the first row. I would like to thank my family and my Team for their support.”

Romano Fenati: “The Algarve Circuit is a very beautiful track, that presents a very long straight line. For this reason I am happy with the time that I managed to realize alone, but however it would have been important to start in front. The setting of the bike is almost on point, therefore we have to evaluate consciously the best strategy, that allows us to regain positions in race.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “After sixteen races I am happy to reap the benefits of our work with Adrian. It was a difficult journey, but today he showed off to be improved, because he took advantage of the huge opportunity that he had, managing to reach an important first row. Romano instead tomorrow will start a little bit behind, but as he demonstrated in other occasions, he haS the capabilities and the possibility to come back! That is what I expect tomorrow from him.”
