An amazing Romano ends the grand prix of Spain in second position, competing for an excellent race !
Our pilot ended this weekend in an sensational way, finalizing the huge speed showed off in every session. Romano started the Sunday of race in the best possible way, since in the warm-up, that took place with rather low temperatures, managed to reach the fourth place. The temperature throughout the race raised and on the ground it reached 27°C. Romano and his team in the grid chose to go with a soft back tire. At the switching off of the semaphore Romano started rather good from his fifth place and at the first corner he was in sixth position. Unfortunately at the fourth lap a conflict brought him for few corners in ninth position. Indeed Romano with an excellent push climbed the group, realizing some of the most spectacular overtakes of the race! It has to be mentioned the overtake occurred at the sixteenth lap, when at the Dry Sac he managed to overtake 4 pilots at once, reaching the head of the race. At the end of the 22 laps our pilot ended the race with a gap from the winner P. Acosta of 0.417 s. 1’46.409 is his fastest race lap. Thanks to the twenty points gained, Romano reaches the fourth position in the ranking of the world championship with 40 points.
For what concerns our rookie Adriàn, unfortunately his race has been compromised by the penalty assigned after the qualifying 1. Indeed to the long lap penalty, received due to the crash caused in the last grand prix, other two long lap penalty have been added to it because he slowed down in the qualifying. Starting from the twenty-second position his race has been very difficult, but we have to underline the stubbornness of Adriàn, who did not give up and he ended the race in twenty-fourth position, increasing his experience with his Husqvarna.
Here there are the statements of the protagonists of this Sunday.
Romano Fenati: “I am very happy with this podium here in Jerez. The bike was perfect and the feeling was very good. I am happy both for me and for my team. Next step is Le Mans, where we have to improve, so that we can make further steps ahead. We have to continue to work on this path.”
Adriàn Fernàndez: “The race has been difficult, because of the three Long Lap Penalties that I had to serve. However I learned a lot. We will try to improve and to be ready for the Grand Prix of France.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “Superb race done by Romano! He proved that he has the skills to do it and that he has the mentality to be aggressive, when he needs it. The whole team made a very good job, since it put Romano in the conditions to have a very good bike. We are happy and we hope that he will keep this level for as much races as possible. On the other hand Adriàn had three long lap penalty, that did not help him to achieve his goal, that is riding in group, since he made the race alone. I retain that penalties are useful, to avoid the same mistake again. We hope that he can improve in the coming up races.”
