15 November 2020 – Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain
In the second Grand Prix held on the Cheste track, our two pilots unfortunately confirm the results of last weekend, indeed Romano on the finish line reached the twelfth place, while Alonso fell after a contact with another pilot.
Let’s move on to analyze the performance of our drivers.
This morning throughout the warm-up, there were some damp spots on the track that, thanks to the sun and the wind, which in some cases reached the 25 km/h, have been dried off for the start of the race. A partly cloudy sky, with a temperature of the air and the ground equal to 21°C has welcomed the pilots on the starting grid.
Romano started from the fourteenth position, but his start unfortunately was not so profitable. Indeed at the end of the first lap, he was in seventeenth position. Throughout the race he had some issues with his bike, for which the needed verifications are in process. This prevented him from showing off his strength points, indeed he remained in the group of pursuers and at the end of the race, he had a gap from the winner T.Arbolino of 14.513 s. 1’39.464 has been his fastest lap, realized at the third race lap.
For what concerns Alonso’s race, after he started from the twenty-first position, he started a remarkable comeback and even with the passing of the track’s limit, that has made him lose some time, at the end of the fifth lap he was in twelfth position. Unfortunately a contact in corner 14 with G.Rodrigo excluded him from the race, preventing him from finishing the fantastic comeback. The contact between Alonso and G.Rodrigo is under investigation, and the result of the investigation has not been communicated yet.
One last consideration concerns the race time, which has been around 12 seconds faster than last weekend. Let us leave the floor to the protagonists of the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community.
Romano Fenati: “I am not very satisfied with the race outcome, since on the straight line, I have not been fast as I was in the free practice. Unfortunately we had a problem, for which we are still doing some verifications. The setting was perfect and in my opinion we could have done a good race. A real shame, but we have to think positive for the next race. Portimao will be a new track for me. From the videos and the images seems beautiful. We hope to do a good result there.”
Alonso Lopez: “I am a little bit disappointed with the result obtained this weekend. Today throughout the race, I felt stronger than in the previous days, and this makes me happy because we have improved a lot in the race. We were fighting to be in the top 10 or top 15 and scoring some points. In the last turn, I had a contact with Rodrigo, and consequently, I have been involved in a crash. I am sorry for my team. I hope to do better next weekend.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “Weekend to forget. Even this second race on the Ricardo Tormo did not allow us to collect good results. A real shame! Without losing the confidence that we have, it is important to stay positive and work hard, to obtain a good result in the championship’s last race.”
