14 November 2020 – Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain
In the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community, that will occur tomorrow at 11 am (GMT+2), Romano will start from the fourteenth position and Alonso from the twenty-first one.
Throughout the morning, as the weather forecast predicted it, a little bit of rain has fallen, that has ruined a significant part of the free practice 3, such that none of the pilots managed to improve their times. Romano in the combined ranking of the three session of free practice results in being in fifth place, with the time of 1’38.559 obtained in the FP1 and a gap from the first position equal to 0.146 s. Thanks to this performance gained direct access to the Qualifying 2. Alonso instead realized his best lap of the free practice in the FP2. With 1’39.495 he resulted in being in twenty-eighth place in the combined ranking, and for this reason, he took part in the qualifying 1.
A few drops of rain fell at the start of Q1, which however did not prevent the session from running smoothly. Alonso did seven laps, obtaining his best time at the last lap. With the time of 1’40.727 he resulted in being in seventh place in the Q1, with a gap from the leader A.Arenas of 1.050 s.
For what concerns the qualifying 2, Romano did 6 laps in two runs. He realized the time of 1’38.842 and he has a gap from the poleman D. Binder of 0.556 s.
The word now goes to the protagonists of the qualifying.
Romano Fenati:”I am not so happy with this qualifying, since we could have done much better. Throughout my time attack I have been disturbed, which did not allow me to use the tire correctly. I am satisfied with the bike results, and I believe that tomorrow we can do a good race. It will be important to start well and to be aggressive yet from the beginning.”
Alonso Lopez: “I am a little bit disappointed with the outcome obtained today, because I think that we did not show off our potentials. Tomorrow, modifying a little bit the setting we will improve in the warm-up and consequently in the race. The goal is to do a good start to fight in the first group. I want to thank my team for the work done and all the sponsors who support me.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “A real shame that both Romano and Alonso tomorrow will have to start that behind. The rain has characterized the FP3 and surely the time lost would have been useful for both of them. Romano has been anyway fast in all of the three rounds of free practice, but he failed in making the difference throughout the qualifying. Unfortunately Alonso took part in the Q1, in which the weather conditions have generated some problems.”
