Penultimate round of 2020! Let’s start

Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 2020 – Preview

12 November 2020Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain

With the Grand Prix of the Valencian community this weekend will take place the second race on the Ricardo Tormo. The preceding GP was rather stingy of satisfaction for the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team. Indeed Alonso fell at the second race lap when he was in third position. Unfortunately at the exit of corner 4, C.Vietti lost the control of his bike falling and A. Arenas who was closely following him, in order to avoid to hit him he had to slow down. Alonso was immediately behind Arenas, so he hit him, falling to himself. A spectacular crash, that fortunately resolved without any injury to anyone. We remind that last Sunday extension of Alonso’s contract has been officialized, who also in 2021 will be the bearer of the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team.

For what concerns Romano, the free practice took place with rather variable conditions, due to which our pilot was not able to find a good feeling with the bike. As a matter of fact Romano started from the sixteenth position. This, combined with the fact of having suffered two penalties in the race, for having exceeded the limits of the track, meant that our rider was classified in thirteenth position.
It was a rather tight race, in which 8 pilots did not reach the finish line. The uncertainty of the championship and the desire of all the pilots to do perform well in the last races, have made the race rather passionate. It was a real shame that Romano and Alonso did not manage to collect good results, that they in the last races showed to deserve.

The word now pass to our two pilots and to our Team Owner Max Biaggi.

Romano Fenati: “We hope to do a good race. For this reason we have to work hard yet from the first free practice. On this track it is important to start from the first positions, therefore it will be necessary to do a good qualifying. Last Sunday starting behind has penalized us a lot! The setting of the bike is rather good, although improvement is needed in some areas.”

Alonso Lopez: “Last weekend we did a great job, but unfortunately we weren’t able to finish it in the race. For this reason I hope to be competitive in free practice and qualifying, so as to get a good result in the race.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “The results of last race did not reflect the potentials showed off by the Team and by our pilots. For this reason it is necessary to work well, avoiding the possibility to be surprised by the eventual difficulties. I hope that both Romano and Alonso will do a weekend as protagonists.”

Statistics

Last weekend the race ridden still on the Ricardo Tormo was won by R. Fernandez, followed by S.Garcia and A.Ogura. 1’39.030 is the fastest race lap obtained by A.Arenas, at the average speed of 145.5 km/h. J.McPhee started from the pole, that was obtained with a wet track. 1’52.252 is his time, sealed at the average speed of 128.4 km/h.

Even due to the very variable weather conditions, none of the preceding record has been broken. We remind that in 2017 J.Martin obtained the All Time Lap Record, with the time of 1’38.428, at the average speed of 146.4 Km/h. In the same year and still J.Martin obtained the Best Pole, with the time of 1’38.428 and at the average speed of 146.4 km/h. Still in 2017, M.Ramirez obtained the Best Race Lap, at the average speed equal to 145.4 km/h and with the time of 1’39.109. in the end the last record concerns the Top Speed, obtained in 2019 by J. On this track Romano obtained as best result a fourth position in 2017. Alonso in the only two participations has unfortunately fallen. Beside that last year Alonso has been involved in a crash similar to the one of last weekend.
