Romano in the top five. Some problems for Alonso

Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 2020 – FP2

13 November 2020Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain

Romano ends the first day of free practice of the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community in the top five, while Alonso had some issues with the setting, that has not allowed to do his best.
Differently from last weekend the weather conditions on the Ricardo Tormo have been rather good, since it has nor rained, even if the sky was partially cloudy. For what concerns the temperatures, during the free practice 2 they reached 19°C in the air and 20° on the ground.

Romano in the morning session did 18 laps, sealing a time equal to 1’38.559. With this performance our pilot results to be in fifth position in the Friday combined ranking, with a gap from the leader T. Arbolino of 0.146 s. His best lap, obtained in the FP2, is 0.136 slower than the one sealed in the morning and it is equal to 1’38.696.

Alonso throughout the two sessions of free practice did 34 laps, realizing his best lap in the FP2, with the time of 1’39.495. He has been slightly slower in the free practice 1, when he obtained 1’39.514. Alonso has a gap from the leader of the combined ranking equal to 1.082 s and he results to be in twenty-eighth position. In this second round on the Valencian track we need to highlight the high competitiveness reached by all the pilots on the grid. Indeed in one second we find twenty-seven pilots!

Let us now leave the floor to Romano, Alonso and our Team Owner Max Biaggi.

Romano Fenati: “The work done today has satisfied me. In the afternoon we tried to do some modifications to improve the cornering and I did not take a lot of advantage from it. Even if we did not improve the time of the FP1, we almost equalize it. This means that we still have margin to improve. Tomorrow we will concentrate on the race pace, trying to directly access to the Q2.”

Alonso Lopez: “I’m not satisfied with today’s result, but I think tomorrow we know what to do to improve. Hope we will solve the problem, so that we can do a good weekend.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “This first day of testing sees us half satisfied. Indeed Romano managed to be fast in both of the session, while Alonso unfortunately faced some little issues, due to which he results to be quite far from the leading positions. We have the time to reorganize the ideas and to be ready for the last session of free practice, where it will be necessary to center access to Q2.”
