Great come back of Alonso issues with the front for Romano

Gran Premio Liqui Moly de Teruel 2020 – Race

25 October 2020MotorLand Aragón – Spain

The Grand Prix of Teruel ended with a great come back of our Alonso, who starting from the twenty-first position and after he served the long lap penalty, that has been given him because he slowed down throughout the qualifying 1, he managed to end the race in eleventh position. Issues with the front for Romano, who ended the race in nineteenth position. Let us analyze in detail the performances of our two pilots. The race took place with a clear sky, with a temperature of 20àC in the air and on the ground of 25°C.

Alonso started from the twenty-first position on the grid and at the end of the first lap he was in nineteenth position. Our pilot served the penalty throughout the second lap, coming back from the long lap penalty in third to last position. With determination, already on the finish line of the same lap he regained four positions. From that point he continued to do a good come back, that at two laps from the end brought him in fourteenth position. He obtained his fastest lap in 1’58.281 at the seventh race lap and this time represents the fourth faster lap. In the last lap, due to the fall of T. Suzuki and S. Garcia and thanks to the overtake of R. Fernandez, he managed to ended the race in eleventh position, with a gap from the winner of 2.489 s.

For what concerns Romano, he did not have a good start from the thirteenth position and indeed on the finish line of the first lap he was in sixteenth position. At the second lap he sealed his fastest lap, with the time of 1’58.364 and from this moment he regained some positions, since throughout the sixth lap he gained the thirteenth position. Unfortunately Romano yet from the beginning had some issues with the front, that has worsened in the following laps, indeed at the end of the thirteenth lap he was in twenty-fourth position. In the last minutes of race the issue did not get worse and this has allowed him to regain some position, ending the race in nineteenth position, with a gap of 5.448 s.

Here are the words of our pilots and our Team Owner Max Biaggi.

Alonso Lopez: “I am very happy with the outcome of today, because I performed a very good rhythm, but I am also a little bit sad, because without the long lap penalty, I could have made a very good race, considering that I lost a lot of time. For what concerns the next weekend I hope to avoid any penalization and to work well with the team. I know what to do to improve. I take the chance to thank the team.”

Romano Fenati: “Unfortunately yet from the beginning I had some issues with front wheel. This prevented me to brake and to the corners as I wanted. The problem got worse up until half race and then it stabilized. It has been rather difficult to keep the pace thus we slipped far behind. Now we have to understand exactly which was the problem. We hope to do better in the next race in Valencia.”

Max BiaggiTeam Owner: “I am disappointed because I saw Romano losing a lot of positions and it was quite difficult to understand the reason. Now we will check all the data recorded to understand where does the problem come from. Romano had a good speed throughout the whole weekend and in regular condition he would have reached for sure the top ten. A much better result come from Alonso who started quite far and therefore his eleventh position is not that bad. It was not a satisfying weekend, because we could have done much better. Now it is time to work to improve in Valencia.”
