08 November 2020 – Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain
Today a very important news has been officialized: Alonso will be a pilot of the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team also for the 2021 season! It is an important renewal that, thanks to the continuity, will allow us to improve and to reach important result.
Going back to the report of this Sunday, it needs to be said that the first weekend on the Ricardo Tormo circuit ended in a rather unlucky way for the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team. Indeed we have to register the fall of Alonso at the second race lap and the thirteenth position of Romano, who had to serve two long lap penalties, because he passed the limits of the track.
The race day started anyway in the best possible way. Indeed, for the first time in this weekend, the rain have not characterized the development of the warm up, where our pilots resulted to be in the top ten, with Romano in third position and Alonso in ninth one.
The sun continued to heat the track of Valencia and the beginning of the race the temperature in the air reached 18°C, while the one on the ground reached 17°C.
Alonso started very well from his fifth position on the grid and at the end of the first lap he was yet in second position. Unfortunately throughout the second lap, in corner 4 C.Vietti lost the control of his bike, falling right in front of A.Arenas. A.Arenas sharply slowed down to avoid to hit him and Alonso, who followed him very closely, hitting his bike has fallen. It was a real shame for Alonso who, given the good start, he would have surely fought for the leading positions.
For what concerns the race of Romano starting from the sixteenth position on the grid, at the end of the first lap he resulted to be in seventeenth position. He started an excellent come back and at the tenth lap he reached the seventh position. Unfortunately, due to the fact that he passed the limits of the track, he had to serve two long lap penalties and at the end of the race he resulted to be in thirteenth position.
Let us now leave the floor to the protagonists of this race.
Romano Fenati: “A somewhat shadowed race today, since we did not manage to obtain what was in our possibilities. We were fast and we could have reached a completely different result, remaining in the leading group. I have been stacked in the second group, where unfortunately the other pilots have been more strong in the braking phase. This didn’t allow me to make a difference. This is not the result that I was aiming to, for this reason in the next weekend will be necessary to start ahead, to collect what we deserve.”
Alonso Lopez: “I am very sad today, because I have started the day very well. I was fast in the warm up and I felt really confident on the bike. In fact I changed something for the race and I think that this was the perfect solution. I have been really unlucky, because A.Arenas he braked to avoid Vietti, who slipped and I could not do anything. For the next race I hope to do my best. I take the chance to thank my team and all the sponsors that support me.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “The weekend started off right, especially for Alonso which did some good qualifying and in the race he started well. At some point he was even leading the race! Then he hit Arenas and slipped, but it wasn’t his fault. It was very unfortunate. Romano started from behind and he managed to come back. Unfortunately the two long lap penalties made him waste a lot of time. Considering all the work that, we do we should collect better results. Anyway we need to think positive and always work at its best! Alonso is confirmed for the 2021 season and now we are working to make a deal with Romano.”
