04 June 2021 – Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – Spain
After the Best Race Lap sealed last year, Romano confirms the good feeling with the track of Catalunya and he resulted to be very fast in both of the sessions of free practice held on Friday.
Throughout the morning session, Romano obtained the time of 1’49.062, at the end of the 15 laps done. With this time our pilot results to be in sixth position in the FP1. The times in these first two sessions cannot be compared with the corresponding sessions of the grand prix of last year, since the variation of the layout of turn 10, makes the track definitely faster. Besides in the FP2 the increased temperatures, that on the ground reached 37°C, allowed a lot of the pilots on the grid to enhance their times. Romano succeeded to lower his best lap by 0.854 s, obtaining the time of 1’48.208. At the end of the thirteen laps done in the FP2, Romano results to be in third position in the combined ranking, with a gap from the leader G. Rodrigo of 0.258 s.
For what concerns Adriàn, we report a little slide in turn 14 in the morning session, at few minutes from the end of the session. This prevented Adrián to do his time attack. 1’51.765 is his time obtained at the end of the eleven laps done in the FP1. In the afternoon session Adriàn improved a lot his performances and this allowed him to improve his time by 1.994 s. With the time of 1’49.771 results in twenty-fourth position in the combined ranking, with a gap of 1.821 s.
Here there are the comments of the protagonists of this first day of free practice.
Romano Fenati: “In this first day I had an amazing feeling and I am really happy about it. Tomorrow, we will have to improve a little bit more in the braking phase. It will be relevant to do a good qualifying, in order to start as ahead as possible and to fight for the leading position throughout the race.”
Adriàn Fernàndez: “The day was difficult especially the FP1, where I incurred in a crash. The problem was that I did not have much grip on the front tire. The free practice 2 was very good and I am working well with my team. Tomorrow, I expect a further step forward.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “The third place of Romano of this Friday allows us to understand that we are working on the right path. Now, we have to work hard, to confirm these results tomorrow in the qualifying. For what concerns Adriàn, with the slide of this morning he lost a little bit con confidence, but in the FP2 he showed off a good improvement.”
