In this first day of Free Practice on the Barcelona Circuit, in the combined ranking concerning the first two rounds of free practice, Romano succeeded to reach the third position while Alonso resulted to be in fourteenth position.
The two sessions held today took place with rather different weather conditions, because the FP2 has been characterized by strong gusts, with a wind speed that in some cases has reached 25 km/h. This has allow only nine pilots to improve the times sealed in the morning session.
Romano in the two rounds of free practice did twenty-seven laps, sealing his best time in the FP1, with the time of 1’49.243 and a gap from the leader of the combined free practice R. Fernandez of 0.390 s.
Alonso also sealed his best time throughout the morning session, with the time of 1’49.847 and a gap from the leader of the ranking of 0.994 s.
We remind that this year the Grand Prix is hold in a period of the year in which the weather is characterized by different temperatures and for this reasons not all the data from last year can be easily used.

Romano Fenati: “Today the feeling with the bike was really good and I am really happy about that. In the afternoon the track was slower due to the strong wind, while this morning we were pretty fast. It will be crucial to do a good qualifying tomorrow, in order to take off as ahead as possible.”
Alonso Lopez: “I am really satisfied with the work done today, because I think that we improved a lot. This is crucial, because step by step I feel more competitive and I have gained more confidence. I personally think that this is the path to follow. I would like to thank the Team for the work that they are doing.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “This first day of free practice it has been characterized by strong wind, that has prevented a regular developing of the sessions. Since the morning Romano has show off very interesting times, while Alonso is constantly improving step by step. Tomorrow will be crucial, in order to obtain a good spot on the starting grid of the GP of Catalunya.”
