28 March 2021 – Losail International Circuit – Qatar
A very strong wind welcomed the pilots of the Moto3 on the starting grid. The gusts of wind, with a speed that reached in some cases almost 40 km/h created problems yet from the warm up. Our two pilots started off rather well from their positions on the grid, we remind that Romano started off from the eighteenth position and Adrián from the twenty-second one.
Unfortunately Romano run into a jump start, that compromised his race yet from the beginning! Indeed due to the early start he had to serve a double long lap penalty. After several overtakes, Romano at the third lap was in fifteenth position and at the fifth and sixth lap he served the two long lap penalty. Analyzing the chronological, It can be easily seen that due to this penalty he lost almost 5 seconds. After this inconvenient, our pilot began an excellent come back, reducing little by little the gap with the leading group of the race. At the penultimate lap, he reached the leading group succeeding to end the race in eleventh position, with a gap of 2.316 from the winner J. Masia.
Adriàn ended his debut race in the World Championship 2021 very close to the points. Unfortunately also him had to serve a long lap penalty, because he passed the limits of the track. This year the rules concerning this are much more strict, indeed it is sufficient that only one tire passes the allowed limit, to receive a penalty. Adriàn has kept anyway a good pace and he slowed down his pace only after he served the penalty, at the eleventh lap. He ended the race in seventeenth position, with a gap of 22.187 s. For him the weekend was overall positive, because there have been clear progresses.

Romano Fenati: “Throughout the race I was very fast and the bike was fast too and I am happy about that. I am disappointed with the two long lap penalty, since I do not think that I move up the start . For this reason we will do a verification with the race direction. I am sure that next week we will be very competitive.”
Adriàn Fernàndez: “The race was very difficult. I started it off very well and the feeling between me and the bike satisfies me, even though I had some issues today in fully understand the situation, because the track was very slippery. Furthermore during the race it is not possible to brake hard or to fully open the gas and for me it is a quite difficult feeling. The result represents the improvements that we have done from the test to the race and step by step we will reach the leading group.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “The first race of the year does not represent the way in which we wanted to start for what concerns the positions obtained. For Adriàn everything was completely new. He is very young and off course he does not have a lot of experience. We are just starting to work with him and we are trying to get the best out of him. We have to improve and compete many more races, but his behavior is the right one. He has a lot of potential.
We did not receive what we expected from Romano. There was a mistake during the qualifying and other small mistakes costed us a better position in the race. He did an excellent come back, because with two long lap penalty he succeeded to reach the points. He made us in a way happy, but I know that without those penalty he could have done much better. Now we have to focus on the next race and try to get better.”
